Spanish Kiss sheds his maiden tag in fine style on turf debut.

 In News

The William Knight-trained Spanish Kiss broke his maiden tag in fine style at York on Saturday afternoon. The four-year-old gelding was running on turf for the first time and put in a career best under Danny Muscutt to win by an eased down 3+ lengths. He settled much better than usual and travelled strongly throughout and was still hard on the bridle at the 2f pole, when most his rivals were under the pump. We have always thought he would relish these conditions and finally he had his chance to prove what he can do on the grass. He won off 75 and will no doubt get a rise, but he is still improving and a step up in trip would not be out of the question down the line. Congratulations to his patient owners and this lightly raced son of Lope de Vega has now been in the money on 6 of his 7 starts to date.
