Spanish Kiss runs a stormer in the Cesarewitch, but just fails to see out the trip.
The William Knight-trained Spanish Kiss ran a stormer to finish 7th of the 32 runners in yesterdays Cesarewitch Handicap at Newmarket. He was always travelling well up the inside under Callum Shepherd and with half a mile to go, things started to look very exciting as Spanish Kiss moved up on the bridle to challenge the leaders. Alas the petrol gauge hit empty inside the final couple of furlongs and he faded to finish 7th. He still beat 25 horses home in this Flat equivalent of the Grand National so it was a mighty effort. He has been a revelation this season, winning three times and improving just shy of 20lb’s in the handicap. William has also done a great job in keeping him sound.
