Sir Busker 4th in the rain in Paris

 In News

Sir Busker was a respectable 4th in the Prix De Montretout (Listed) at Longchamp today (winning €5,200). He broke well and sat in a decent position throughout off a steady early pace. He got slightly lit up coming round the home bend and whilst he kept on well up the straight, he couldn’t quicken well enough on the very soft ground to muster a serious challenge. It was always a danger that this type of race (i.e slowish early fractions and racing round a bend) might not suit him as well as a straight mile when they go quickly up front and which then makes the most of his very high cruising speed. We know from his younger days that he idles when ridden more prominently so taking the fractions into our own hands isn’t really an option. Either way, today was an interesting experiment (he paid for his trip by coming 4th) and it will put him bang on fitness wise for Royal Ascot where he is still likely to line up in the Queen Anne on Tuesday 15th June. He does have a Royal Hunt Cup entry too but I think we will hold our nerve and go for the big one.
