Chartwell House (IRE)
2020 bay gelding by Churchill (IRE) ex Ihtifal (GB) (Dansili (GB))
Owner KVT XIV
Chartwell House is a powerful and striking son of the Champion two-year-old and Dual Guineas winner Churchill, a son of the late almighty Galileo. He shed his maiden tag at the fourth time of asking at Epsom over seven furlongs, bagging a £20,000 Book 1 Bonus as well, after which he was given a rating of 84.
The dam Ihtifal, was rated 95 herself for Godolphin and has already produced two horses rated over 85, both of whom won as juveniles. She is a half-sister to the Prix De Lieurey (Group 3) winner Zibelina whilst their dam, Zaeema, is a half-sister to Her Majesty’s Group 2 Dante winner of 2011 Carlton House who subsequently went off favourite for the Derby where he finished third to Pour Moi.
Luke Lillingston commented:
“We believe we have found great value amongst the stellar catalogue of Book 1 at Tattersalls. By Champion two-year-old Churchill, his first two broodmare sires are the outstanding broodmare sire Dansili and 2,000 Guineas winner Zafonic. Additionally the class of Galileo shines through his attractive head while he is a beautiful mover to boot. He is just the right type to win a Book 1 Tattersalls bonus and progress upwards from there. I believe he was offered in the wrong sale and might well have made a good deal more in Book 2. The vendors loss should prove our gain.”
