Flashcard a good second at the July meeting

 In News

The Andrew Balding-trained Flashcard ran his best race of the season to be second at Newmarket’s July Festival. Under Oisin Murphy he took his chance for the first time over a mile and on the quickest ground he has encountered. The early furlongs were ran he very slowly which didn’t suit as he was shade keen early on. However as the pace quickened so did he and he ran on bravely, having to move round horses to get a run to go down 2 1/4 lengths. It is great that he could go on this ground and the mile seemed OK so he will have more options going forwards.
