Chartwell House, Dance Fever and Carolus Magnus all placed this week.

It has been a week of near misses for KVT with all our runners being placed in these hot conditions.

First up was Chartwell House (William Knight), who was a highly promising second under Marco Ghiani at Windsor over 6 furlongs. He had a terrible draw in stall 14 and could get no cover in a race where several of them were lit up on the way to post and in the race itself. He raced a bit keen, but saw the race out well, ultimately going down just a neck and well clear of the third. He looks an exciting prospect for his owners.

At Doncaster on a sweltering Saturday evening Dance Fever (Clive Cox) was a good second down in class, beaten by a well handicapped three-year-old getting 9 pounds of our lad. It was a good return in a lower class of race and should do his confidence a world of good, having run the last twice in big field Ascot handicaps with a terrible draw in each.

Also at Donny and again in an easier field Carolus Magnus tried 10 furlongs for the first time. He totally fluffed his lines at the start giving several lengths away. Whether he totally saw out the trip is questionable but it was a decent enough effort and was not beaten far into third place.

Let’s hope for a winner next week!
