Busy week ahead with Semper Augustus, Dual Identity & Attache all running & runners at the weekend
We have a busy week ahead with 3 runners and possibly more at the weekend! All with chances and we are making our debut in the Racing League tomorrow.
First up is the Ed Walker-trainer Semper Augustus who runs in the £50,000 1 mile 2 furlongs Racing League Handicap at Windsor on Thursday evening, due off at 7.25pm. There are 11 runners and he is drawn in 2 with Saffie Osborne keeping the ride and claiming the 5lb’s off, meaning he carries a featherweight of 7 stone 11lb’s. Ed reports he has come out of Newbury in good shape and feels it is worth rolling the dice in this valuable affair before heading to the sales in a fortnight’s time. It is a better grade of race and whilst we forfeit our silks (he wears light blue of ‘Team Swish’) the prizemoney is fantastic and Ed has always felt Semper is the kind of horse that would remain competitive in a better grade of race given his raw ability.

Next up is the William Knight-trained Dual Identity who has been declared for the 1 mile 4 furlong handicap at Kempton on Friday, due off at 4.50pm. There are 10 runners and we are drawn wide in 8 with the excellent Adam Kirby on board. Dual Identity has come out of his Salisbury race in great shape and appears none the worse for those victorious exertions. He has been raised 7lb’s in the handicap for that win but races off a 6lb penalty here so he is 1lb ‘well in’ and running for the last time (we hope!) in a 0-70 race. The step up in trip should be within range on this all-weather surface so hopefully he will go close again. Please could his partners let me know by 1pm tomorrow if they would like to attend. Also on Friday we have the Andrew Balding-trained Attache who has been declared for the 1 mile Nursery at Salisbury, due off at 6.23pm. There are 5 runners and we are drawn 1 with the in form David Probert hopping back on board. Andrew has been very happy with Attache since Epsom and whilst there is a stamina doubt on pedigree (his dam was very fast), he hopes the step up in trip will be within range here on handicap debut.
