Big day at Sandown with Sir Busker and Dual Identity both running

 In News

The William Knight-trained Sir Busker runs in today’s Fortune Stakes (Listed) at Sandown and there are now just 7 runners with the ground this morning described as Soft. He is drawn in 1 with Oisin Murphy back on board. Sir Busker is 4lb’s clear on ratings but, as we know from his races, he needs a quickly run affair which is never guaranteed in these smaller field / more tactical pattern races. There is not much obvious pace in there but hopefully it will encourage those up front to press on the gas early on enough from home so they are coming back to the field late on. Whilst Sandown is a round track, it has a long straight and hopefully Oisin can work his magic. He knows the horse so well and will no doubt have done his homework tactically.  All fingers crossed Sir Busker can notch a thoroughly deserved win.

Also on the Sandown card and also trained by William we have Dual Identity who runs in the 10 furlong handicap due off at 4.40pm. There are now just 8 runners as the ground has changed to Soft and he is drawn well in 3 with Jim Crowley, who rode him so well to win at Salisbury two starts ago, back on board. This looks a trappy affair on paper with plenty of unexposed sorts but he appears an improving horse himself and certainly has scope off his handicap rating to go very close. The track (similar to Salisbury), trip and slow ground should suit him down to the ground.

Good Luck to both sets of owners.
